Mother's Day or Mothering Sunday is a day to celebrate and honor mother figures around the world. Whether mums, nans, grandmothers even mother in laws. On Mother's Day most people make a conscious effort to treat their mothers with gifts, cards even special Mother's Day cupcakes to demonstrate how special they are to them and show they care.

 

WHEN IS MOTHER'S DAY?

Around the world Mother's Day is celebrated on different days. It is held exactly 3 weeks before Easter Sunday In the United Kingdo. It's not treated as a bank holiday in the UK however many restaurants get really busy and thd majority get booked up as people take their mothers and grandmas out to celebrate.

 

FUN FACTS ABOUT MOTHER'S DAY...

  • The first Mother's Day was celebrated in 1908. Anna Jarvis honored her mother Ann Jarvis with a memorial. Ann Jarvis had started a committee in 1868 to establish ‘Mother's Friendship Day'. Her motivation had been to reunite families after the Civil War. She died in 1905, before Mother's Day became a holiday.

  • Mother's Day is the busiest day for florists around the World with, one quarter are purchased for Mother's Day.

  • The most common flower gifted for Mother’s Day is the carnation.

  • Mother's Day is celebrated in close to 50 countries in different parts of the world and In nearly all countries and all languages, the word ‘mother’ or ‘mum’ begins with the letter ‘m’.

  • According to Hallmark, Mother’s Day is the third-largest card-sending holiday.
